How good is Andy Soucek?

I have to admit i had never heard of him before this season, he has made a very good impression as far as i am concerned, now linked to a test with Toyota, what do you guys make of him?

I've been really surprised by Soucek this year. I remember a certain team owner on here never rated him in Spanish F3 (do a search), but two fourth-placed seasons and then a narrow championship win certainly suggest he's at least reasonably talented at the wheel, whatever behind-the-scenes stuff was going on. But I never expected him to be up at the sharp end in WSR, both in testing and the season proper. Definitely one to watch.

Spanish F3 champions get a Toyota test drive. Garcia had his in 2005.

i'm not sure about how good he is nor what he can do with a Toyota F1. But definitely, winning a WSRV6 race is not for anyone. At least I hope so...

he is not very popular, as he had too many money issues with the teams... I am sure Alfonso will tell you more about it. he is an ok driver, but not likeable person at all.

Can anyone give a pronunciation on his name.

"Sook" or "Soo-check"?

I've heard both.

Either way, if you go ask every team he has been at since karting, you will find that ALL still have debts outstanding as of latest information. I feel sorry in a way for Interwetten since pretty soon they are going to realize that he and his father have played the same old tricks on them as well. But then again, I am sure they have been warned by enough people, so it's their own fault if they fall for the smoke and mirrors.

I don't really know much about him, but you can't be a race winner in WSR with a field with such strength and depth as it does this year without being half decent. On that note, how competitive is Spanish F3 where Soucek was champion last year? It can't be on a par with the euroseries or british/japanese F3, so how good is the championship? I've seen that Nicolas Prost has been on the podium a few times this year, yet last year he couldn't even get into the top 10 of eurocup frenault.

He did Spanish F3 for 4 years, same car same circuits, and won it lat year after a lucky pileup at the last race. That doesent say a lot of his driving, but this year is a different matter, he has the best car, but he looks very good on the track and fast. maybe more power suits him beter.

Well, he definitly is not F1 material...and the WS field is also not on par at the moment with the Zonta, Montagny, Wilson, Kovalainen years, if I am not mistaken.

Besides, after 4 years of F3, he only had one win before his final win when everyone shunted at the first corner of the final race of the season and he was lying fourth in the standings with no hope in winning, but won the championship only since the other three were out and he got the necessary points. Talk about luck. but definitely not the most talented driver of the year since he did not have much to show for in all those years.

But like I said, lets see what Interwetten say at the end of the season :-)

Incidentally - and partially on topic - do you have any clue as to what's happened to last year's champion team, Epsilon??

Valsecchi has one podium finish, Steven Kane a best of one 4th place...
