Sept 23/24th Snett. CTRCC Classic Thunder, anyone coming out to play?
Dennis or any of the ModProd guys gonna come out and feel the water? I have decided to enter the IROC for the double header and will be there (hopefully) both Saturday and the Sunday. Lets see just exactly what this baby can pull down the back straight!

Sorry Al, can't afford to play away from home this year. Especially as I wouldn't be competitive on Toyo T1-R's and my car needs massive work for anything stickier.
Might come and watch if the weather looks good (and my local BMW dealer ever finishes fixing my ****ing bike). |

I usually have a couple of helpers but as it is a two dayer I may have problems on the 2nd day as they may only be able to do the one.

Do I smell too many cubic inches in a block not capable of sustaining them? And the wrong material too?

Looking like a good entry coming in now across the board in all the CTRCC races. 17 in Classic Thunder alone, should be a good weekends racing.

Al, what happened? A qualifying time only.....
I see that the 67 Camaro of Gerard Faber won one of the races, and that it's a 6.6L engine. If it's 6600cc (402ci) I would be interested to see how it's done with a 67 iron block. The max that I'm aware of is 396ci (6500cc) using a 3.875" crank with a 4.030" bore. A 67 Camaro is a 67 Camaro. Not a 68, or 69. It's not like a Mk1 Escort. There were considerable differences between a 67 and a 68, and a 69. The Camaro was available with the 396ci BIG block from 1968 onwards. If it were me, I'd be looking for a 69, and a ZL1 engine - an all alloy 427ci big block - they were capable of up to 550bhp rock bolt standard! At least it's not entered as a Z/28 which is supposed to be a 302ci (5000cc) Rob. |

For info the second race got red flagged when the very pretty Red Escort of Les Lyons rolled into the wiggly bit before the start/finish straight.
Shame, there was some good little races going on. Hope car and driver are OK. |

Oh no! That was one very very nice Mk1.
Hope Les is OK. So, where's Al? |

I threw a rod Rob, went home and got my other car which was not ready as I had to change seat belts, transponder and refit the extinguisher, rebuild the six pot calipers, refit new front discs, bleed the system etc etc etc. I got alll this done and went back to the circuit for the ruddy clutch to start baulking again not allowing me to select gear so I went home a few hundred quid and a wrecked engine the poorer.
Mind you I don't like the sound of Les's accident, I was only admiring the car at scrutineering, what a shame. As for the Camaro, I was told that its Classic Thunder and so its OK what can I say, coming out with us Rob? |
