Fvee & Frenault
I am moving to the UK for 2-3 years. I have some limited racing experience but would like to become involved on more serious but amateur level.( I am too old to have any serious professional ambitions)
My thoughts are to do a season of FVEE and then ability permitting a season of FRenault 2000(BARC) or club F3 or S2000. If I purchased a F3 I would then take it back to Oz. It seems that a season of FVEE should not cost more trhan 15,000 pounds and FR 2000 about 20-25,000 pounds. As I will not know anyone in UK I would need to purchase a car and have it professionally prepared. Do members think my ambitions and budget are realistic or are there any alternative suggestions. I know FF1600 would be an alternative but it seems from a distance that a newbie to open wheelers would learn more in a large field with drivers of various abilities which FVEE seems to have and that the cost of having a FVEE preapred by AHS or similar would be considerably less than FF |

£15,000 is a decent budget for FVee but you can spend a lot more if you test a lot and have lots of mechanical damage/failures.
Should definatly be cheaper than FF1600. Andy. |

F Renault BARC in the 2.0l class will be more like £45,000 on a shoe string budget!

You can run in the club class of F Renault BARC for well under 10k per year (Not including car purchase ). This is probably what Simon has told you in the PM. Cars cost from 7.5k - 10k, but be a bit careful what you buy!! There have been a few blunders dropped over the years.
Have you really swallowed up 45k this year James!!! |

£15k is realistic for Vee. I'd recommend speaking to Alan Harding at AHS (http://www.formulavee.co.uk / alan@formulavee.co.uk) - one of the biggest teams in Vee and he'll definitely be able to help you out.

Leastone have been championship winners countless times over there. Try www.leastoneracing.com or email leastone@eircom.net. Our new chassis is reasonably priced and would be worth a look.

£15,000 should be a championship winning budget. Half that has won the championship.
£6k would be a healthy run yourself budget. |
