Stockhatch Tyres

I know the BRDA havn't sorted regs out yet or whatever, thats a different matter, but I would really like to know what tyres BRDA / BTRDA will be using as the stockhatch control in '07.

Are we sticking with the A048s?

rallycrosscraig has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
they should stick to the AO48's.
a good tyre.

but more importantly how much will it cost if they change again? and stockhatch is supposed to be a budget series so why change again?

I think they should review the control tyres as the yoko's are get a little expensive and dont last that long could they not look at some of the Kumo's or other budget brands as when i was racing my biggest expense after entry fees was tyres as i was wearing out a set every other meeting.

And have heard that some of the other brands could last a season i know the old yoko's we used wernt as good but they lasted for ever and as a budget class cost should allways be important.

If you go back to the old tyres you might as well just run on the rims!! The newer tyres are a hundred times better lets go forward not backwards to save a couple of quid.

BRDA will be using the A048's in 07.

Its not backward to change tyres to make them cheaper, how can you say its still a budget class when some people in the class put over 15 / 16 tyres on their car this year!!!

Cos that would mean seperate sets of tyres for both wet or dry, unless u fancy racing on slicks in the rain..

Humm, now theres a thought for leveling the playing field

If any Stockhatch drivers are thinking of getting your tyres for next year, I would suggest waiting a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure.

But for those of us on a tight buget who like to start sourcing spares early, to spread out the cost. It will not do any harm to wait a little while.

If they do, I would hope our promoters/organsers would allow us a few meetings grace to use up our old ones.

Yes, I also have 2 brand new sets of Yokohamas. It would be very upsetting if rules changed without a handfull of events to allow everybody to use their current stock of old and new tyres.
I'm sure common sense will prevail...

ok lets stop this c--p the THE BRDA / AND THE BTRDA STOCKHATCH FOR 2007 WILL BE ON yokohama tyres A048's medium compound in 07.
If any Stockhatch drivers are thinking of getting your tyres for next year, I would suggest NOT waiting and getting them when you can (i just got 24 at a good price as someone read some of the **** above and off loaded them ) if you want to know ask the people that know or can ask the right questions to the right people, and not rely on gossip or hearsay. I hope this clears any questions to stockhatch tyres for next year

Apparently there is an announcement about tyres in the next 2 to 3 days, so I've heard.

I seriously hope that both are on the same tyres - running different tyres in the entry level "budget" class would be ridiculous.

Have had a call from Peter Stott just now, the open series will be running on silverstone tyres in stockhatch in 07.

They tested the tyre onm Lynchys car at Blyton and they performed 'better' than the yoko, faster and more durable.

They are offering free tyres on registration for the series. Prices will be the same as the Yokos.

There will be a silverstone truck with 7 technicians at every open event in 07.

Official Press statement next week i think.

Sorry Kieth, but I heard that there was some uncertanty about tyres for 2007. I also heard that there was going to be an official announcement coming up. So I thought it was wise to warn people to sit tight for a couple of weeks. Rather than people acting on rumours and buying Kumhos, Silverstones or Yoko's and find they were no good for the meetings they wanted to do.

I am sorry that someone has got rid of their Yoko's, but I did not say, buy or sell, and I did not mention any manufacturers, all I said was wait a couple of weeks.

Next time I hear somthing that may be relavent to drivers, I will follow the old Yorkshire saying. Hear All See All and Say Nowt!

Dave, I'm sorry if you think it was directed at you but it wasn't, too many people speculate about things and get it wrong. Some people could have gone and brought their tyres for next season, and then to think that they have wasted their money. As far as I have been told, the regs for stockhatch are as the 2006 season, but subject to the weight issue it still has not been resolved as of yet. As soon as I know I will post something on this site.
As a note on hals post if silverstone tyres are giving away free tyres on registration and registration fees aren't over the top then I will be registering 4 cars and drivers! As I'm always up for a freebe.

Its crazy for a budget category to require drivers to buy different sets of tyres to please different organisers. Time to compare notes and sort this out...
