Is it worth claiming on the insurance?
My Nikon 300mm f4 is a cool lens, I've had a couple of years, and it's never let me down.
That said, it's taking a fair few knocks over that time, it's taped together, the tripod colour doesn't work (can't rotate it), and various other scrapes and knocks. I want to get it repaired really, I'm considering a new lens, and the lens is insured. Is it worth getting it done under the insurance? That way it shouldn't cost me much, and hopefully it will then be in a condition to sell if I decide to. |

Have you damaged it or are you just trying to claim for wear and tear?
Is the lens insured for wear and tear? |

Yes, I've damaged it. It's been dropped more times than I care to remember.

I suppose it depends on your excess, your increased premiums and what you expect to get for it S/H. What are they new, £8-£900ish?
Just weigh up if you think it is worth it and if the insurance company will even pay out. Don't forget that once you put a claim in, even if they don't pay you face increased premiums and losing any bonus you may have. |
