Long Beach is here, Houston is next
The Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend begins tomorrow, Friday, April 13.
Watch practice and qualifying Timing & Scoring on Friday plus full video/telemetry/driver-pits radio Saturday on Race Director. The race is Sunday at 4:00 PM EDT on NBC-TV as well as Race Director. Free Timing & Scoring data is also available for all sessions. This link to the Grand Prix of Long Beach website provides additional information about all the racing for this weekend. http://www.ccic-champions.ws/ccic/in...cWvEibmkEq4gCu And, after Long Beach the Champ Car World Series is on to Houston. If you haven't seen the Houston Grand Prix web-site here is a link to it. http://www.ccic-champions.ws/ccic/in...BAJtpvArkFHcie After Houston the next race will not be until Portland on June 10, so enjoy what we've got going in April, get ready for a new off-season for six weeks, and let's hope that we can put two, even three events on our calendar for May 2008. |

Will Power fastest, followed by Tag and Bourdais in P2.
It's interesting, last year they were faster up to this point in practice with the old Lolas. While weather, etc. plays a big role, the car isn't faster than the old one, or at least the teams haven't figured out how to make it faster with the mandated wing angles, etc. |

Surprised by the bottom of the grid. Of all the rookies, the three at the bottom are ones I'd expected to be right up there. I guess they don't have much practice time to learn a new track though, which the Atlantic guys have as a big advantage.

Will Power is the man to beat... on provisional pole. It seems that this year Bourdais has a tough nut to crack...
and with Pagenaud fast again, we have to add a new top team !? I can imagine the the big grin on Walker's face... Also Tag, he is becomming a frontrunner... Who does him get the buzz? And to my surprise again, Tristan Gommendy, faster than Rahal, whow, thumbs up, the man isn't bad... But what's up with Wilson...and Doornbos? Again hmmm: Legge and Clarke. I am shure with Nelson on board Minardi would perform better... |

I love this whole Will Power at the top thing. It's great to have some competition up at the front and someone different up there. I thought Power might do well this year, but this is well beyond I think anyone's expectations. Walker said in a recent interview before Vegas that he wanted to be a consistant 3-5th place finish car. Obviously not even he could predict this.
I suspect that some of the drivers didn't get many laps in. I think PT only did 1-2 real laps. I know Rahal is a rookie and everything, but perhaps he is showing that it's not so easy to be Bourdais' teammate. In other words, perhaps Junquiera wasn't struggling as much as we thought? |

I was just saying "maybe" regarding the Junquiera vs. Rahal comparison. There's no question that it's too early to tell. Graham is awfully young, we'll see what happends before making any judgements. For instance Simon is quiet a bit older than Graham and he's obviously taken to CC like a fish to water.

Well I would say Pagenaud is more talented than Rahal for starters. I think rahal is good, but he has a long way to go(las vegas would be good evidence of that).
I think Junquiera has never been the same driver since the big indy crash in 2005. And probably will never be again. |

Maybe, maybe not. Moss said it took him 4-5 years to get all the way back from his crash at Goodwood in 1962.

Qualifying has been run and won.
Well done to Bourdais , but Will Power is pushing him The starting grid is the 2nd post in this thread but is currently provisional because of the doubt over Paul Tracy Racing or not |
