1.0 Formula 3

I am starting out on a new project , i am going to use one of my existing websites to gather information on 1.0 Formula 3 from 1964 to 1970.

I have searched the web and can find odd snippets but no site with full information on so here goes.

I would require photos of the cars;-
Chevron B7 only one built so this may be difficult to find.
Chevron B9 8 built
Chevron B15 14 built Debut win for Reine Wissell at Snetterton in works car
Chevron B17 9 built

Brabham BT9
Brabham BT15 58 built

EMS driver Aleste Bodini

DAF The variomatic cars drivers Gijs Van Lennep/ Mike Beckwith.

March ETC

I will be contacting the HSCC as they have severall F3 cars in the DBT and classic race car series.

Any Data regarding cars, drivers, events, to start with British races would be greatly appreciated.

Pete

The Sheldon/Rabagliati "Black Books" contain race results. Information from them has been used on this site:

http://www.formula2.net/

Autosport had a nice colour picture of the Chevron B7 on the cover of the F3 review issue sometime in January '68

There is now a european championship for F3 screames taking shape.

All it needs is a few more cars and a big race to really put it on the map.

If anyone is thinking of racing one please support this series.

Details can be found below.

thanks

Post FJ formula III is a wide remit!

What info are you seeking? Your opening post does not make it very clear.

You have to go from the Jackie Stewart Cooper BMC opening years to the domination of the formula by Cosworth (MAE) and to a lesser extent, Holbay. Then progress to the Hon.Charlie Lucas's engineering partner Tom at Titan, creating the first fully downdraft straight port head and half an IDA Weber with the slide throttle!

Dominant chassis was probably the Brabham BT 19 and 21. And, of course, Hewland Mk IV Transaxle based on the inverted Volks Electron casting.

As a point of reference, we often had to use 24 volts to start a well run MAE as the ring gaps meant little or no compression from cold!

As the F3 history site illustrates, there were legions of chassis and quite a few different engine bases too! However, until Novamotor, the downdrafted MAE was pretty dominant.
