The new Anglesey

Anyone who’s driven the new Anglesey circuit got any pointers? What gear to take corners in or which corners require braking? We’re racing on the the Coastal and GP circuits at the end of the month, but only testing on one of them. (As a comparison, the old circuit in my car was a dab in 4th for School, big brake and down to 3rd for Abbotts, hold this all the way through Radar with just a dab to “Scandinavian flick” it between the two apexes, 4th on the back straight, heavy braking and down to 2nd for the hairpin and up to 3rd for the Complex with no braking, maybe a lift in the middle).

Try posting the question in either the single seaters forum and / or the Nat Saloons as the CSCC raced there last weekend on both the Coastal and another of the circuits and all 4 of their Series raced , so TinTops/ Swinging 60's , Formula Free and Future Classic drivers may have answers for you

Anglesey

I went to watch the XR's and ford saloons there a couple of weeks ago.

Wasn't able to race myself as cash was the key factor.

Can say the track looks superb and can't wait till 14th/15th july when we use the full circuit!!

The othere drivers said it is tricky/testing and can be harsh on tyres!!!!

Harsh on the power steering, I know a couple of the ST's were boiling their power steering fluid. Although I think it's not totally Anglesey specific, but seems to be exaggerated there.

No kerbs put in yet, when's that happening?

Love that final bend before the s/f in the video too.

Kerbs are going in in the closed seasion, after they figure out where they are needed. Better than Rockingham who put some in the wrong places. Actually, why do race circuits need kerbs at all - just drive between the green stuff...

I'd imagine they'll just mark out all the brown bits after our races there... expect there to be a large expanse of red and white concrete straight ahead at rocket

A brick wall is needed. My notes for a day there record 38 spins or excursions worth mentioning - there were loads of others.

Ah you weren't one of the marshalls at the post on the chicane that took a few steps back when my brakes failed coming up to Rocket last weekend were you?

Quite possibly if that was on Saturday. (I had a different post on Sunday.) But you missed us so no hard feelings.

No, it was on Sunday unfortunately. I was the Yellow and Blue Caterham Megagrad trundling round for a few laps with his front left wheel trailing smoke in the braking zones. I found out why at Rocket!

And thanks by the way, all of us at CGRC really appreciate what the marshalls do. Its bad enough standing around getting wet when you're inside the car, let alone watching a bunch of IT consultants with no car control throwing it off every lap!
