Apart from a few ranters and ravers, the consensus seems to be that Volvo acted correctly and is was GRM carrying on like a pork chop that was the problem. There are ways to deal with bad news, witness Ryan Walkinshaw after Holden pulled its funding, and most of us were just shaking our heads at how someone as experienced as Garry Rogers could carry on with what really was nothing more than a conspiracy theory.

If Volvo had always planned to pull out at the end of 2016 why did the MD of VCA, Garry & Barry fly over there for meetings, while Scotty had a drive in the factory car in Europe? There is certainly circumstantial evidence they were making noises like a renewal was likely. |

Some say that Volvo went cold once they found out that Scott was leaving GRM.
Their attitude seemed to go from "Give it some jandal" to "toss the sandal" |

If this episode illustrates anything it is that it is difficult to leave the sport with dignity, especially in these days of social media.

The real challenge for Volvo is that the only person who has done any talking on the subject so far has been GRM... who have shaped the discussion and played to some extent on the battler tag..
Time for cheques to be written, parts to be boxed up & sent home.. |

Let's get real for a minute.
GRM said that Volvo didn't give them enough time by making a decision in May. Now GRM have either built 2 or 4 brand new cars in a matter of weeks and they will be ready to go for season start. Volvo have done nothing wrong. |

Yep and that's where Garry Rogers loses credibility for crying poor and has now built up 2 cars in plenty of time.

seriously its a COTF, Its not complicated. The issue is and always was that now he will probably be running at the back of the field, where as with the volvo he was a front runner

Yeah but peckstar you are talking about the same driver.
Scotty was 10th in his rookie year (2013) and 3rd in his 4th year (2016). How good is the Volvo and how good is Scott? None of his team mates have been close to him. |

GRM VFs weren't a bad thing. #33 was in the top 10 quite often. #34 wasn't too far behind.
The cars were pretty quick in DVS too, compared to their rivals. |

Meanwhile 3 years has gone by, the aero has changed and every other leading team has 3 years additional data, something GRM dont have. |

Garry didn't say Volvo didn't give him enough time to build cars. He said Volvo didn't give him enough time to replace the deal with another manufacturer. |

Yeah, that.
Allegedly was approached by another manufacturer, but declined due to being under the impression he would still be tied to Volvo. |

Mr Rogers may do some colourful singing & dancing, however it isn't clear here that there have been any direct untruths.
GRM were/are capable of building new chassis in the 5 month timeframe they had. Equally they were capable of converting the Volvos to Commodores. This of course relied upon support & assistance from Holden Motorsport (who? ) and from WP for the initial and ongoing supply of engines. At the time Volvo confirmed that they were not continuing into 2017, GRM did not have an alternate engine supply. They could have built their own, however would have required capital & equipment & people that aren't currently at Kitchen Rd. Well done to WP for making the engines available. They now service 6 main game cars, and a number of Dunlop series units as well. A big deal! |

Spot on, with regards to the WR engine deal.
At one stage there, it looked a bit dire until Erebus ditched the Mercs. The WR engines aren't exactly lacking in straight-line performance. |

Hopefully Volvo might donate one of the cars to the National Motor Racing Museum.
It would probably make for a good story after all the negativity. |

I was under the impression that under the signed contract at the root of the whole saga, Volvo Sweden were to buy the cars back from GRM. As in we give you cash, you ship the cars, complete. Could easily be wrong though. That said, a car in the Bathurst museum would be a nice gesture.
