This is a problem you often get when there is no higher class for the top people to progress to. The serious money stays in what is supposed to be a entry level clubman class. Budgets escalate and it becomes poor value for money. The same has happened in oval racing with stock rods. That's why I'm banging on about the need for a class 'ladder' with the class above stock hatch being more affordable.

I can't see that procar2000 will be all that more expensive than stock hatch 1600 - and those with bigger budgets will be able to upgrade easier to Div 2.

If there are people prepared to spend £10k on a stock hatch, surely these people will be prepared to spend the same on a Div 2 car to run against more modern and professional-looking machinery?

Production car 2 litre class proposed by the Open Championship (essentially same as 2 litre stock hatch but allows non-hatchback vehicles)

Why are you lads going on about Div2 GrN as a class to be included, as news is out now that Div 2 is fased out of the ERC after the 2008 season?? In Sweden D2 run alongside D1a as it is fased out and also France is considering fasing out D2 in favour of D1a. OK, it will put a lot of cheap obsolete 2-litre GrN cars on the market for you guys to buy, but it will leave you with yet another class thats not ERC-legal...

The ERC are looking at extending the duration of Division 2 as the RWD Cup has failed to take off. Division 2 is very strong in France at the moment.

I just seen it is a proposal at the moment to abolish Division 2 by 2009. I suppose they'll see how the Rallycross cup goes next year...

Procar sounds like its the way forward but it needs to be controled as their is plenty of cars out their that are bending the rules..

I for one will be watching the class and when the time is right i may come and race again.

We'll have to wait and see, we have heard empty promises for new cars already this year. Rememember Guttorm Lindefjell had a colourful press release about his Cup campaign. Then he pulled the plug on the class. Time will tell, there might be life left in Division 2 yet...

As a matter of interest what lap times would a Div 2 car be doing compared to a Cup car ?

In Poland the fastest heat time for a Division 2 car was 3m.31s... and the fastest heat time for a Rallycross cup car was 3m.41s...

I can assure we will control the class very well
We want what the drivers want not what the orgs want but what the drivers and spectators get in return for all their hard work matters to us
