It'll be very interesting to see how JB/Williams/BAR tangle affects BARS race in Hungary.
Can't see the atmosphere as being pleasant. Cheers Peter |

I'd love to see häkkinen back on the track, but I think Davidson is a far more probable choice. Mika is in talks with lots of people all the time. It does not have to mean anything really...

Oh, flipping heck...thanks JB for kicking Silly-season into overdrive!!! Best avoid this place for a bit...it's a mess!
Hakkinen, Villeneuve, Hill, Mansell, hey, maybe even Prost will drive for BAR next season....in fact, I heard Sterling still felt like the racing speed was still with him... |

I can't see him returning just purely for the fact that a few years ago when he left i'm sure i remember reading an article in which he said he would never return after the birth of his son showed him how much life is worth and he wants to be able to be with his son and see him grow up with him and his wife. Which i personally think is very touching

Never thought this would happen!
But now it has, how about Davidson and Hakkinen at BAR next year? An old boy who had (still has?) what it takes and a young charger who may be better than Button anyway and has a cool head on his shoulders too (sorry Sato). |

Hi GoJenseGo.. Welcome to the forum. Mika to BAR is still clearly in the realm of rumour. In any case, I would prefer the pairing of Sato and Mika. I maintain that with the proper guidance (and of course the right car), Taku could be WDC someday soon.

Nothing more than a rumour. Hakkinen hasn't really denied it, but he won't return unless he is guaranteed a race-winning seat. He won't want to go through his mid-90s McLaren days again...

I'd be very surprised if Hakkinen came back.
And I don't think Sato is in any danger of being dropped. It's extremely likely AD and TS will be at BAR next year. Good line up, who'll push each other on. |

You would think Mika would not need a "No 2" being an ex-WDC.

I wouldn't want to see Ant get his break at the expense of Sato.
Taku has done a good job this year for someone of his experience and deserves an extention to his contract. |

 What is all this no2 malarky? Is Mika going to drive for BAR is the first question to be answered!
The trouble with anything Mika says is that he is quite likely to be having a little joke. Unless anything concrete is said I don't think we have a lot to go on... As for whether Ron let's him, well from what I remember Mika is free to do what he wants for 2005 onwards anyway and Ron has said that he'll not stand in Mika's way. |

I think he's just playing with the media, I can see him sitting in his Monaco flat, lookin at the news reports with his lob-sided grin.

Come on Adam! Ron would love two Finns next year, but he didnt realise the possibility. Mika looked at the 2004 car and hung his head in shame, and kept quiet

JPM has been signed since 2003, so Mika hasn't had any chance of coming back to McLaren since then. I doubt the 2004 car could have any influence on this.
I think Ron is quite happy with his choice anyway. I'm not saying theoretically Ron wouldn't want Mika driving a McLaren, just that Ron won't stand in his way of going anywhere else. |

Good on him too, the press has been a thorn in his side in the past, nice to see someone giving it back to them. |
