Procar @ Sandown

They are off to a great start!
Ticket pricing especially... Adult $10 Saturday, $12 Sunday and a $25 family pass. Procar are trying hard, I hope they get their support.

Hopefully they'll get a huge crowd and make it up on the back end with concessions or whatever.

Hopefully Davo will at least open up Dandenong Rd spectator area.

As much as I love Sandown sitting in the grandstand can't compare with watching the cars running down through the esses to Dandenong Road.

Far better pricing than the Oran Park round. I hope they get ten thousand there.

We had a car club cruise organised but now will be 20 plus cars attending Procar...cant wait

Great prices.

I wish there was spectator area @ the 1st turn...there is only a marshalling point or stand in the horse car park behind the fence

I remember watching as a kid the 1st corner when the pits were there...I know the radius of the corner has changed but it would be a great place to watch from....so is Cobbs on the back straight

I wish I could ge there but work comments.

In the old days of the Moffat Mazda my mate and I used to leave work on Friday nite drive down and stay at the caravan park nearby, watch practice liquid dinner...watch the race all day on sunday and then drive back to Sydney and ready for work Monday morning..

Not sure about doing it now though.

I believe if a PROCAR round is held in QLD it will be at Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick.
Would make for some very interesting racing!

Good question, I believe the head people at Warwick have been working on securing a round of Procar since the track was extended.
Significant improvements to the pit area, pit lane and main straight are basicaly complete.
Warwick is about 2 hrs from Brisbane so they may lose some attendance from there, but the surrounding country towns would flock there in droves I feel.
Very much a uteman area.
I suppose it would be similar to compare the Winton /Sandown locations to Warwick / QR.
Warwick is a wild little track with 11 corners, up hills , down hills, lefts and rights.
Great track, but may produce some carnage.

Poletime prediction time....

Quickest time of the whole the Sandown 500 weekend of 2002 was J.Richards in Quinny's 911 GT3 of 1.13.8765... which eclipsed J.Bowe's warmup time in the same meeting of 1.13.9558..

The detail is here... http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re.../2002.SAND.E12

The quickest rain time was the same meeting, happened in the wet/dry top 10 shootout of the same meeting, where Slamming Sammy got his first pole.. 1.18.5170 while the rest were in 1.24s...

In the wet qualifying session, J.Richards managed a 1:21.4133 in the 911..

Meantime in 2001, J.Bowe won the race with T.Waring in a Ferrari 360 Challenge with a fastest time of 1.18.2422... so there will be a huge difference between the cars on the weekend

What does any of this mean... well I think in qualifying if it is dry, Paul Stokell will achieve pole, with Allan Simonsen alongside in 2nd.

Pole will be 1.11.8, Allan will do a 1.12.4... presuming it is dry. The positions remain unchanged in the wet, but the pole time will likely be 1.20.0 with Allan 1.20.5....

And I will be at the circuit to watch
