It's been like that for quite a few years now. They have had Shell on the Toll cars back to the Porche Cup days.

Road Ranger Vk should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I know it seems strange but shell, Bp and castrol are all one and the same company. i think shell and castrol are owned by the same pairent company and castrol own so much % of bp. from working near a tanker depo I always used to wonder why all these trucks with different company's names on the side came out of the one place.

Hope this answers ya question, no doubt some will disagree but Ive asked the question before.

Wouldn't the Tratt car be prepared by Perkins Engineering not Castrol?

Not uncommon to see one fuel company buying product from another from time to time.

Anthony's #75 is a customer car of Perkins. It's not the same team, so the issue of conflicting sponsors is not an issue at all.

Toll car gets it fuel for free, due to the large amount of fuel they use as a fleet with Toll, so hence the logo's on the car.

I think there is some sort of deal where fuel for the transport fleet is discounted or along those lines in return for signage on the car.

This is just so 'old news'.

Does anyone care to remember the Coke Commodore Larry prepared that had Pennzoil stickers on it?

You can be sure that all cars out of Larry's workshop have Castrol products in them regardless of the stickers on the car.

Just like most teams use Castrol SRF brake fluid and Synthetic Gear Oils regardless of their affiliations. Keep a keen eye out at the track for painted oil drums and SRF comtainers with tape over the brand name.

But it's funny that some teams have a deal with a lubricant company as a sponsor, but the will often amount to cash, not product. Thus when it comes to filling a car with oily stuffs, the team will go and buy less expensive products than what those of the stickers on the car..

In 1988 Garry Waldon won the Yokohama Production Car Championship in his Goodyear-backed Mazda RX-7, racing on Bridgestone tyres. IIRC, it was because his sponsor didn't have a suitable tyre in the right size...

Anyone remember the Valvoline sponsorship on the #4 Pirtek car, when in the pit bay next to it was a car fully covered in Caltex sponsorship.

I think Pirtek were using Valvoline products then but they changed over to Caltex who were contracted to fill their bottles and put Pirtek labels on them.

A lot of the smaller sponsorship are just product placement only... if you squeeze them (the oil companys) they might pay for the paint job.
