Merchandise

Just 3 quick questions:

1. Do you purchase merchandise every year??

2. Do you buy driver or team merchandise?

3. Does it annoy you when the merchandise you just purchased is changed?

1) no

2) drivers and teams change, prefer the underdog of my favoured brand and price of course

3) not at all I would prefer to wear a older obsolette jacket shirt cap flag ect ( i have my origanal fox holden (doesnt fit) jacket in the cupboard along with a VB Malbroro Commodore flag)

I have seen people at the clipsal change allegances midway through the race ( HRT at the start, SBR at the finish)

1) yep - but only bits and pieces

2) well i'm lucky that Skaifey has been with the team for donkey's years so no need to keep re-buying different merchandise!

3) not really, but if the team comes up with a new modern design of their logo like HRT have done recently then it sorta doesn't match - but it doesn't stop me from wearing it!

Cheers!

TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
1. Yes

2. Team first then driver second

3. Very annoyed, I think that some of the merch is over priced and it can add up when buy something one year and then follow the same team only to spend more money again next year.

1. Do you purchase merchandise every year??
Not every year, depends if i see something i think is worth buying

2. Do you buy driver or team merchandise?
I buy Merchandise from my fav team HRT and merchandise from my fav drivers, (Mark Skaife and Cam McConville), so i have brought a few GRM things cause Cam McConville is currently there, if he change teams, i will most probally buy clothing and merchandise from whatever team he goes to

3. Does it annoy you when the merchandise you just purchased is changed?
Sometimes when u have just brought a shirt or a hat, and then a few weeks later, they come out with a new range of clothing, does get a little annoying

Not every year, depends on whether they have things that will endure a few years before logo changes and colours/sponsors force the suckers to fork out for more.

Driver merchandise

Doesn't annoy me that much if there are changes. If a driver crosses the floor to the other manufacturer, then that's OK. If you baulk at that were you a fan anyway?

1. Do you purchase merchandise every year??
I used to buy something every year, but now I have so much stuff, I won't be buying anything for years.

2. Do you buy driver or team merchandise?
I have bought some event stuff, but not driver. I mostly buy team gear.

3. Does it annoy you when the merchandise you just purchased is changed?
That's when I usually buy it. I wait for the new range to be relased and buy the old stuff at half price.

Rarely, unless it is a real stand out
2. Do you buy driver or team merchandise?
Team merchandise but F1 only
3. Does it annoy you when the merchandise you just purchased is changed?
F1 is pretty good at making this years' shirts look like last years' shirts, with exception perhaps of a few sponsor placements, so you don't look "odd" or "old stock", which I think is good for both consumer and team rep.

Obviously your thread is in regards to V8s. I would be interested to know if anybody has bought any gear from other categories, and if the shirts, caps, jackets etc looked "cool" would you buy the gear? There are many teams other than the V8s that have their sponsors merchandise available.

1. No. I don't have a job so far, but I like to get some new gear

2. Bit of both, and some feebies (god love them freebies )

3. Only major changes, but only a few minor diffrences (eg: some new minor sponsors, letting some go etc etc) doesn't worry me that much.

The thing I get annoyed with is the teams get paid substantial amounts of money off the all the different sponsors, to have their name/s plastered all over the side of the car!
Then all of the fans have to PAY to wear those same logos on their shirts, jackets and hats, Using themsleves as mobile billboards! Then to make it worse the teams change their liveries nearly every year so you go back next year to buy more!
Theres no way I wear any thing with Logos ,including stuff outside of Motorsport, not until I get a cut off the profits by wearing this stuff around! But We all know thats never going to happen!
