Servia, 28, who originally joined Visteon/Patrick Racing at the end of July for a five-race trial, has impressed the team with both his knowledge and tremendous driving talent. We are pleased to be able to give him the opportunity to continue racing with our team as we pursue our goal of winning races," Patrick concluded. http://www.motorsport.com/news/artic...105401&SN=CART Great news ! I bet Townsend is heartbroken know, but, well... Hopefully he can get the car to the finish without it breaking, he deserves a podium. |

Good news indeed. I think they realised they need an experienced driver when they're running a one car team. Maybe if things go well there will be a seat for Mr. Bell next year with an experienced teammate to help him over the hard spots.

I think Liz has it exactly right, I had this doubt at the start of the season, although Bell is talented he has much to learn, and Servia knows how to drive a team forward, and is far too good to be out of a drive

Obviously I'm very happy with the news!
Let's hope that for next year Patrick and more teams can have 2 cars, so Bell, Gidley, Papis and co. are not sitting in the sidelines! |

Bell made too many mistakes and deserved to get the chop.
Well done Servia for proving that you deserve a place on the grid. |

Well Jordi, you win and I lose! Well, lets see what the future holds for my man Townsend Bell. He is why I became interested in CART as a newcomer.
Good luck to Oriol... mechanical problems aside, I haven't seen much forward progress in his race standings though. I will give him credit for driving conservatively and thereby keeping UE happy by not bending the sheet metal. Last edited by BobbyB; 9 Sep 2002 at 03:38. |
